William "Bill" Somerville Obituary

Bill was born in the Township of Erin, the son of the late Robert Somerville and Gladys Hale Somerville. Though born in Erin, Bill and his beloved wife, Helen, called Marmora their home for over 60 years. Their incredible 72-year marriage was a testament to lifelong devotion. Together, they enjoyed extensive travel and built a large, loving family.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Myria (Burkitt), and his children: Margaret (Edward) Ney, Helen (Doug) Turpin, Barbara (Ray) Stanfield, Deborah (Glenn) McCoy, Larry (Janet) Somerville, and Tammy (James) Maloney, along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill also leaves behind his brother, Barry Somerville, and two sisters, Joan Somerville and Marlene (Neil) McQueen. He was predeceased by his daughter, Francis Joan Somerville, and his brother, Donald Somerville.

A man of remarkable skill and community spirit. Bill was a true “construction guru.” He built and renovated many beautiful homes over the years, leaving a tangible legacy in the structures he created. He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Club, where he was honoured with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for his service.

Forever loved and remembered.
