Roy Earl Stone, 93, of Marmora, Ontario died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Campbellford Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Coppercliffe, Ontario, he was the son of the late Joseph and Kattie (Pierce) Stone. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnne, sons Brian (late Lynn), Doug (Michele), daughter Wendy (Ron), grandchildren Amanda, Jeffery, Jennifer and great grandson Miles. He is predeceased by his sister Grace, brothers Gordon and Sidney, and step daughter Anne Mary. Roy will be deeply missed by his niece Gale and family friends Donna and Bob Murphy and Kevin and Shelly Maloney.
Roy worked for many years at Ontario Hydro, when he retired in 1993, Roy and JoAnne enjoyed many years camping, with a majority of those years in the Marmora area. Eventually they purchased a cottage on Beaver Creek which they made into a permanent home. They eventually moved into Marmora, where they continued to live happily together for the remainder of their 50 years together until his passing. Roy was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time hunting, fishing, and AT Ving with friends. He was a long time active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 237 and the Marmora ATV club.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at Saint Paul's Anglican Church, Marmora, January 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Reception at the Marmora Legion. In Lue of flowers donations in Roy's memory can be made to Saint Paul's Anglican Church, Marmora or The Legion Branch 237, Marmora.
