It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Durwood Heaslip on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Roger was a longtime resident of Napanee.
Roger was born on February 18, 1964, in Toronto, Ontario to Doreen and Robert Heaslip. He spent many years working as a professional painter, a trade he took great pride in. Roger poured himself into his work and found genuine joy in seeing the beauty he created and on hearing the compliments from those who admired his craftsmanship.
Unfortunately, a significant and debilitating back injury forced him to step away from the work he loved. Though his was a heavy burden to carry, Roger found a new passion that brought him comfort and happiness. He developed a love for cooking, especially making homemade pizza’s from scratch, a skill he perfected and happily shared with those around him.
Roger cherished his time outdoors in the summer listening to music and sharing songs with family and friends. He was a deeply compassionate man who would help anyone who asked, often pushing himself beyond his limits, even when he might “feel it later.” Helping those he loved gave him a profound sense of purpose. His smile and laughter had a way of filling the room and lifting the spirts of everyone around him.
Roger was immensely proud of his daughter Kaity, as was blessed with two amazing grandsons whom he loved endlessly. They were among the greatest joy and accomplishments of his life, and he spoke of them often with deep love and pride.
Roger will be lovingly remembered by his parents Robert and Doreen Heaslip. His devoted companion Edwina Ross. His cherished daughter Kaitlyn Spence (Dan), and his beloved grandsons Bryce and Reid.
He is also survived by his loving siblings Todd (Lisa), David (Kim), Kirk (Dagmar) and Nicole (Geoff) along with his sister-in-law Sandra Ricci, as well as extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Roger is predeceased by his brother Colin, whom he carried in his heart always.
A private Celebration of Rogers Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Roger’s memory to a Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences, photos and memories can be shared at www.milestonecremation.ca.
