Ralph Holland Obituary

Born 30 May 1943 in Madoc ON died on May 5 2026

Ralph was the loving husband of Heather (nee Prentice). Father of Douglas & wife Rhonda (Johnston) grandfather of Ryan & Rachel Holland of Madoc ON.  Father of Kevin & wife Carla (Mills) grandfather of Marcus & Sahara of Whitby ON.  Ralph is survived by his siblings Barbara Toms of Trenton, ON; Jean & Ron Hurley of Callendar ON, brother of James & Suzanne Holland of Madoc ON. Predeceased by youngest sister Marie and husband Ronald Evoy of Addison, ON.  Ralph, was the son of Cecil Holland and Aileen (nee Holmes) of Madoc ON.

Ralph is also survived by sister-in-law Carol (Prentice) & Jim Sorrels of North Port Florida, brother-in-law Robert & wife Yvonne Prentice of Campbellford and by brother-in-law Garry & wife Debbie Prentice of Cavan ON and by his nieces and nephews who he always enjoyed spending time with. He will be missed by many other family members that got together at the family reunions held over the years. He also enjoyed his many friends that he and Heather had and kept in touch with.

His career started at the Madoc Co-op when he was 18 and he went from there to Tweed as Branch Manager.  He retired from Tweed Co-op at age 60, after many years of dedicated service to the Co-op. Still feeling like he had energy to burn he spent many hours each day going to the woods cutting firewood.  He joked that he never needed to go to the gym.  When Ralph found the chance to become a part of O’Hara Mill Volunteers, he was in his element.  This is one of the best organizations for people with extra time and energy.  He loved working outside and this was the answer to his wishes.  He made new friends there and got to see the lovely area every day.

When the grandchildren came for a visit, it was such a special time for both he and Heather. He spent a fair bit of time teaching them things he thought they should know.  (Like how to get into the truck for a donut run without telling grandma.) It was such a pleasure to watch the four grandchildren grow, get the driver’s permit), tease them and see what great adults they have become. Ralph was so pleased with his four grandkids, and with his whole family.

Ralph has been well taken care of at Moira Place and the staff have been very good to him. Thank you to all who have had any part in Ralph’s care over the years.

Following Ralph’s wishes, he is being cremated and there will not be a service at this time.  A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Milestone Cremation Service.
