Obituary

Jackson, Nancy Anne (Nee Gorsline)

A free spirited, vibrant soul who lived with grace, passed on to heaven August 3, 2023, in her 85th year.

Born in Picton, Ontario on August 31, 1938, and grew up in the Fish Lake area of Prince Edward County and was the daughter of UEL descendants.

Nancy was a Retired Elementary School Teacher/ Librarian. Nancy’s career started in Prince Edward County at SS #12 Sophiasburgh (Elmbrook School) in 1957; a one room school with 40 plus pupils and grades 1 to 8. Her teaching experience included Niagara Falls, Peterborough, Pembroke and lastly Prince Edward County Board of Education. She excelled in Primary Education and while in Pembroke, was asked to organize and develop a Junior Kindergarten programme. Nancy continued to improve her qualifications and attained a Supervisory certification in Primary Education as well as a Supervisory certification for School Librarianship.

Age never stopped Nancy’s curiosity to live life, she believed age was only a number to challenge her creativity and adventure. She had a passion for books and reading, learning, singing, animals, gardening and cooking. Most of all Nancy was happiest assisting others. Her depth of compassion and commitment were endless. Nancy sang in Church Choirs and the Command Performance Choir. She founded a “Breast Cancer” Survival group, “The Pink Dragons of Quinte” after successfully battling Breast Cancer herself.

Nancy would want to be remembered not with saddened hearts but, with joyful memories. Her kindness and wisdom lives on in our hearts.

She will be missed by husband of 65 years Hugh John Jackson, her daughter Cheryl Anne Champoux (Raymond) of Thorne, Ontario, and son Paul Michael Jackson (Marie-Eve) of Banff, Alberta.

Nancy is also survived by her sister Diane Walker (Glendon) of Milford, Ontario, and Sister-in-law Betty Jackson (Alan -deceased) of Peterborough, Ontario.

“The coolest Granny ever”, Nancy will be missed by her grandchildren Christopher Champoux (Katie), Jeffrey Champoux (Laura), Julia Champoux, Louis Jackson, Antoine Jackson and her great grandchildren Hallie, Hannah, and Espen Champoux. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and close friends.

A Private Family Service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery.
