It is with great sorrow that Michel Jacques Rivard, 67, passed away suddenly on January 13, 2024.
Born April 12, 1956 in Newport, Vermont. Michel was predeceased by his father Robert Rivard and his younger brother Yvon. He is survived by his mother Huguette (nee Gravel) and stepfather Jim Keeler.
Devoted husband of almost 45 years to Debbie Rivard (nee Thompson). Proud father of Garrett (Lauren) and Kiley, loving grandfather to Seamus, Jaina, Rhys and Grayson. Michel will be lovingly remembered by his brother Paul (Sandy), Tori (Ben) and many other nieces and nephews.
Michel grew up in Port Hope with his family and later went to Cambrian College. In his younger years Michel was actively involved in local sports, the Kinsmen club and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He and Debbie married in 1979 and moved to Blind River in 1982 where they raised their family and were active members of the community running various successful businesses including Unicorn, Radio Shack and Subway. After retiring in 2008, Michel stayed busy with his many hobbies; he was actively involved with the Blind River curling club for several years, was passionate about cooking and woodworking, he’d spend many mornings doing genealogy research for his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, grandchildren and friends. Michel was never afraid to take on a project or lend a helping hand.
The friends Michel made over the years are too many to mention and became a part of his family. Many great memories were made at camp, especially during the annual Labor Day party. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.
Family and friends will celebrate Michel’s life this summer at the lake.
