Michael Dene

We are deeply saddened to share the sudden passing of Michael Derek Dene. Born in Northampton, England, on February 11, 1958, Mike lived a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to family and country.

Mike began his military career in 1975 with the British Parachute Regiment, serving with honor and pride. Later, he immigrated to Canada, where he embraced his new home and proudly became a Canadian citizen.

He was the devoted partner of Vickie Lemmon and loving father to Victoria Gilding (Matt), Joe Taylor (Chloe) England, Samantha Dene, and Megan Dene. He was also a caring stepfather to Natasha Lemmon and Devon Harker (Katie). Michael adored his grandchildren: Jack and Sophie Gilding, Eden Taylor, Korry and McKail Holcomb, Cooper and Willow Harker.

Mike is survived by his brother, Mark Dene (Raluca) Romania, brother in law Michael Gordon and was predeceased by his parents, Derek and Susan Dene (née Murfin).

A passionate fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Green Bay Packers, Mike never missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. He also found joy and peace in the great outdoors, where he felt most at home.  Mike had a deep love of animals and cherished his pets Leo and Oscar.

A profound sorrow and loss will be felt by all that knew and loved Mike. His legacy of strength, loyalty, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and many friends.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Breast Cancer research or the SPCA in his memory.
