Leona Abrams Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Leona Lillian Abrams (née Sweet), who passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, just weeks after celebrating her 80th birthday on December 4.

Leona was born in Napanee, Ontario, the place she would always call home. It was there that she built a beautiful life alongside her beloved husband of 62 years, Victor Abrams. Together, they created a home filled with love, strength, and quiet devotion.

Leona was a proud and devoted mother to four daughters: Eva (Paul Detlor), late Evelyn, Karen, and Kathy (David Trombley). She was also a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren. Beloved sister of Lewis Sweet.

Predeceased by her parents, Ada (Lloyd) and Wilfred Sweet, as well as brother Leon Sweet. Leona carried forward the values of family, kindness, and resilience throughout her life.

A dedicated stay-at-home mother who also worked part-time, Leona was known for her strength, generosity, and unwavering kindness. She found happiness in the simple, beautiful things—tending to her flowers and garden and good yard sale, caring for those around her, and enjoying her favorite comfort: a nice cup of black tea. She gave freely of herself, always ready to help, listen, or lend a caring hand.

Leona’s life was one of quiet devotion, steady love, and grace. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her hardworking spirit, and the warmth she shared so freely with everyone fortunate enough to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2026, at Sillsville cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor, remember, and celebrate the remarkable woman she was.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
