March 6, 1973 – July 15, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Laurie Kathleen Gashinski in Hospice Quinte, Belleville, Ontario, at the age of 51. Loving mother of Matthew Crosgrove (Holly), wife of John Pringle, sister of Michael Gashinski, and daughter of Patricia & Ronald (predeceased) Gashinski.
Laurie devoted her life to children. She was a passionate educator and naturalist, life-long vegetarian, and advocate for ASL, Deaf education, students with exceptionalities, and social justice. Committed to play-based learning and outdoor education, Laurie was a beloved teacher at Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf (2009-2024). She was described by those who knew and loved her as wacky, creative, patient, and compassionate: someone who loved life and lived life well.
A Celebration of Life service for Laurie will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Belleville, Ontario. ASL interpretation will be provided. Interment of ashes to follow at the Belleville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada or a charity of your choice.
