Ann (Kirsten) Fales, age 86, passed away peacefully at home in Thomasburg, Ontario, on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Ann died at home, in her sewing room overlooking the Moira river, surrounded by loved ones. As an avid Blue Jays fan, she appreciated that they “won for her” the last game that she was able to watch the night before. Ann was born Kirsten Ann Wohlleben in Vancouver B.C. in 1938 and grew up there along with her three brothers Bernard (d), Ken (d), and Steve. At a young age Ann expressed a “rebellious” nature. What she referred to in her later years as "being a rebel but with thought and conscience". Ann’s rebellious spirit served her well and led her on to a variety of careers and adventures throughout her life. Ann’s first marriage to Raymond Fales (d) took her to the U.S.A., where she obtained a P.H.D. in Adult Education, taught, and eventually had a son, Christopher. Follow a divorce Ann moved, with her son, to Toronto ON to take a teaching position at the Ontario Institute for Studies and Education. Restless in the big city and wanting more nature in her life, Ann then made the decision to move to Thomasburg, ON and switch careers to become a Family and Marriage Counsellor. After moving to the area Ann purchased an 80 acre farm along the Moira river and began renovating a 100 year old farm house. It was there that she met her final “partner in adventure” David Reid. From that point on she and Dave went on a host of adventures together. Ranging from trips to Costa Rica, Venezuela, the Amazon jungle, Northern and Western Canada, and Mexico. To then in retirement work briefly as winter caretakers on a floating fishing lodge on the West Coast of Vancouver Island B.C. Ann is also credited by friends as having led a "Creative Life". Whether that be through her spirit of adventure, love of learning new things, or her last career as a “fiber artist” creating amazing and beautiful works of art through quilting. Ann was part of a vibrant and loving group of friends through her art in the Quinte area (Gallery 121, Quinte Fibre Artists, Prince Edward County Quilters Guild). Ann is survived by her partner David Reid, son Christopher Fales, daughter in law Christina Fales, grandson Logan Fales, and brother Steve Wohlleben. A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
