Katherine Ignatov Obituary

The world lost a beloved mom Katherine Ignatov, a sister, and friend.  To her grandchildren, she was simply Babo.  She passed peacefully on October 2nd, surrounded by her loved ones.

Katherine was born in Moncton, New Brunswick May 22, 1948.  She loved to knit, paint, bake, playing cards and bingo and be crafty.  She was an amazing dancer and could do the twist like no other.  Her love of Johnny Mathis, Barbara Streisand and any 50’s and 60’s music could always be heard at the house.  She loved her children, Renee Schnurr (Alan) and Robert Ignatov (Cheryl) with love and devotion.  Her grandchildren, Nik, Alexander, Zandra and Chris will miss her “beetlebum” squeezes and tickles when they innocently walked by her.  Her hugs were legendary.  She will also be missed by her mother Leveta Westcott, her sisters Joanne McIntosh, Mindy McIntosh and Victoria McIntosh, brother’s-in-law Gary Duncan (Stephanie) Nick Ignatov (Sherrill) and Ed Ignatov.  Katherine is pre-deceased by her husband, Loui Ignatov, her sisters Marilyn Cadger and Judy Duncan.    She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the staff at Friendly Manor Nursing Home, who treated mom with the upmost of kindness, care and devotion to her well being at all times.  Also thank you to the nursing staff Janice, Sue and Holly in ICU #4 at Napanee Hospital as the family navigated the final hours before mom passed.

There will be no formal service, but a family held celebration of life Sunday, October 29th, in Selby, Ontario.  All are welcome, reach out to a family member for further details. Internment will be held Monday, October 30th at the Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Katherine’s name to the Diabetes Society.
