John "Jack" Grant Bell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Bell on December 27th, 2023 in his 85th year, with his family by his bedside at Belleville General Hospital. He was born on July 5th, 1939 and was the dear son of the late Jack Bell and Mary Grant. Predeceased by sister, Mary-Lou Bell. Jack is survived by his beloved and cherished wife, Carolyn Bell and loving daughters, Tracy (Ivan) Sine and Melissa (Greg) Schatzmann. He will be remembered and cherished by his grandchildren Emily, Kristin (Andrew), Sheldon and Kaden. He will also be missed by his sister-in-laws, Peggy (Bud) Bartle and Denise (Mitch) Seguin and fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack was born and raised in Belleville and was a graduate of Quinte Secondary School where he played on the football and rugby teams. He met his wife, Carolyn on a blind date, setup by their friends in 1960 and was married May 4, 1963. They were fortunate to have recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Jack enjoyed watching many sports including horse racing, golf, football, hockey, and baseball of which he was a Toronto Blue Jay’s fan. Over the years, he enjoyed playing golf, hanging out with friends and enjoyed a few trips with his wife, Carolyn. 

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for him at both BGH and KGH. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 from 1 - 4pm at Parkdale Community Centre, 119 Birch Street, Belleville.
