It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the untimely passing of James Fenwick Stinson on December 23, 2020 at Kingston General Hospital. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Patricia Stinson (nee McNeill), married for 42 happy years, two daughters, Morgan James (Stewart) and Mackenzie Stinson (Prasan Patel), as well as two grandchildren, Liam and Isla James. He was the beloved son of Fenwick Stinson, his wife Kathy, and predeceased by his mother Lorna Stinson (nee Gerow) and brother Mark (Lisa). He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Alan (Sandie), Lynn (Ron), and Lorie (Howard) as well as the extended family.
Jim had a profound impact on the people that he met. His kindness, positivity, and remarkable attitude towards life was an inspiration to the many that he encountered and is a testament to the type of life he led. He was proud of his daughters who constantly fuelled his determination and strength. He raised them with these ideals, who have now grown to be women who capture the essence of who he was every day.
He was a very proud environmentalist and was happily employed at the Ministry of Environment. Despite the insurmountable challenges that lay before him with Multiple Sclerosis, Jim overcame significant barriers and earned his Environmental degree in 2000 at the University of Waterloo. Among his passions, he was an avid athlete and outdoorsman who enjoyed cross-country skiing, hockey, and scuba diving, and imparted this love to his daughters. Later in his life, he cheered on the Queen’s Golden Gaels as an enthusiastic fan and became part of their football community.
Jim touched the lives of many people, whether at Providence Manor, strangers in Skeleton Park or on the street. His positive outlook left an everlasting impression on those he met. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather to those closest to him, but to others, he will be remembered as a true inspiration and friend.
“As for me, I fought a good fight
I finished my race
I kept my faith”
As an expression of sympathy, the family wishes that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or Providence Manor. A memorial will be held at a later date.
