Helen (Liddle) Worrell

October 16, 1926 ~ August 20, 2021 (age 94)

Obituary

Helen Florence Jacqueline Worrell (nee Liddle)

Helen died peacefully in her sleep on August 20, 2021 at The Belmont, in Belleville, where she received excellent loving care for the past year and a half. Helen was born on October 16, 1926 to well known local tailors, the late Arthur and Marie Liddle (nee Gunyoun). Cherished mother of son Robert (who she said was “a present from God” - born on her birthday) and daughter Jeannette. Predeceased by her husband Ray, as well as her siblings and their spouses: brother Art, brother Hank (Doris), brother Bob(Ethel), sister Dorothy (Morris) and her twin brother Jack who died at birth. Also predeceased by her son-in-law Curtis Saheed, her grandson Daniel and great-grandson Nicholas. Helen and Ray always enjoyed having a pet dog or cat, and often both. In their younger years, they shared many interests: working in the Scout movement, camping, canoeing, walks in the woods with their kids, riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, and found many ways to be active in their church. They also helped to welcome newcomers from Tibet and Vietnam to Canada, who became dear friends. Helen was an excellent bookkeeper, conscientious and well liked by her co-workers wherever she was employed. Both she and Ray had a wonderful sense of humor. Staff at Belmont said, “She’s so strong!” Not surprising then, at 4 foot 11, playing guard in basketball, Helen was nicknamed “Dynamite” by her school friends. Private placing of Helen’s ashes with those of her husband Ray will be done by her children at the Belleville Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in Helen’s memory they are welcome to include Christ Church Anglican, the Humane Society or a  favored charity of your own. Online condolences and memories can be shared at www.milestonecremation.ca
