**George Arthur Peterson** passed away May 5 2026 at the age of 94. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by strength, quiet resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family.
George was the beloved husband of Anne Peterson (née Holmes), and a devoted father to Shirley Merrill (Keith), Karen Boisvert (Jerry), Glen Peterson (Brenda), and Marsha Chrysler (Shannon).
He was a proud grandfather to Dawn Welch (Kevin), Melissa Petherick(Tyler), Logan Blake (Brooke), Amanda Blake, Colin Peterson(Jodi), Kaitlyn Peterson, Courtney Chrysler-Brooking(Christien), Carissa Chrysler (Nick), Taylor Chrysler, and a cherished great-grandfather to Lillian, Colton, Liam, Brooks, Charlotte, Casey, Lauretta and twins on the way.
In his early working years, George drove an oil truck, delivering furnace oil to families in his community. At home, he was often found sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee from his Ponderosa Cup, looking out the window. He could also be found on his red Massey Pony tractor, plowing the laneway, tilling the gardens, and tending to the property.
George was survived by his sisters, Betty Linn and Barbara Laver. He was predeceased by his brothers Leslie and Earl.
A quiet, stubborn, and strong man, George was not one for many words, but his actions spoke clearly, especially when it came to caring for and supporting his family. Those who knew him understood his strength, and those closest to him felt it every day.
He passed away peacefully at The Bridge Hospice, surrounded by family, after a life well lived and deeply rooted in love and commitment to those around him.
George’s legacy is one of family, strength, and quiet devotion—values that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
A very special thank you to the staff at The Bridge Hospice. Your warmth and compassion helped us through a very difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
