Slipped away in her sleep November 5, 2022, at age 99, joining her sister June Lakins, her husband Robert Pomeroy and her companion Tony Macpherson. She was an avid and a long-time member in several community groups, the Ladies institute, Bath United Church and Bath Lioness. In her younger years she donated hundreds of homemade pies and worked behind the scenes in numerous community events. More recently she knit and donated hundreds of pairs of mittens for needy children.
She remembered riding on a sled pulled by horses to attend school in the winter and walking the 2 miles in the summer. No tv, radio or cell phones then. She remembered milking cows by hand. She remembered the first tv, a black and white 17 inch in 1952. She remembered watching the Queen’s coronation.
Her longevity allowed her to experience dial telephones, TV, electric Mixmaster, toasters, microwave ovens, furnaces that heat the whole house and dozens of improvements which were not even dreamed about in her youth.
She did have some fixed views regarding life’s events. One was she did not believe in flowers at funerals. Flowers should be enjoyed by the living. So, keeping her wishes please do not send flowers. As well, the close family will have a private ceremony at the grave site on a date yet to be determined. Those wishing to honor her memory are asked to consider a donation to a charity of their choice.
