It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don, peacefully in Napanee on Tuesday 07 December 2021 with his family by his side.
Don is survived by the love of his life, his wife of sixty-eight years, Naydene (Lamont) and his darling daughter Donna Shabinsky and son-in-law Mike. Survived by his brother Carl Baldree (late Mary) and his sister Patricia Loyst (late Stanley). Fondly remembered by sisters and brother-in-law Adeline Fowler (late Joe), Bonnie Evans (Jake), Colleen Reed (Bob), Helen Lamont (late Dale) and David Lamont (Linda) as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Edward and Gertrude (Doyle) Baldree, brothers Jack (Roberta) and Bev, as well as sisters Eleanor Chadwick (late Nelson), Doreen Reid (Gord) and Hilda.
Don and Naydene were snowbirds in Florida for many years and enjoyed golfing and shopping. They enjoyed numerous cruises and trips in Canada, U.S. and several countries in the world. Don and Naydene spent many years volunteering with their church, community care, and the Legion. Don was a Korean War Veteran on the front lines for 283 days, a guard at Collins Bay Penitentiary and twenty-five years as an Ontario Provincial Police Officer, retiring from Brighton Detachment. Don spent his entire working life in uniform serving his country and his province.
Thank you to Dr. Arlene McIntyre and her staff for her exceptional care given to Don over the past several years.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Milestone Cremation Services. Unfortunately, due to the rising Covid-19 numbers in the KFL&A area the gathering has been postponed until further notice.
Memorial donations made in Don’s memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
