Deborah Thompson

Deborah “Debbie” Irene Thompson (nee Brown) passed away suddenly at Lennox & Addington County General Hospital on Friday, January 3, 2025, at age 70.

Beloved wife for over 44 years of the late Eugene “Gene” Thompson of Newburgh and dear mother of Jody (Sara) of Napanee, Jefferey “Jeff” (Anna) of Kingston and Christina “Chrissy” of Napanee. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Skylar, Terreis, Thomas, Jacob, Zaviar, Hope, Nigel and Edward. Sister of Aldena Maillet (Brad), Gary Brown (Maggie), and Brian Brown (Linda). Predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Edna Brown of Tamworth and by her siblings Anna “Wynn” Smith (Robert), James “Jim” Brown (Joan), Jack Brown (Aileen), Shirley Monaghan (Ted), Joan Rogers (Gary), Don Brown, Carole Frizzell (Gary), Thomas “Tom” Brown (Brenda), and Wayne Brown (Rita).

Debbie was born in 1954 in Tamworth, Ontario, the youngest of 13 children and attended Napanee District Secondary School (NDSS). It was at NDSS where she met Gene Thompson of Newburgh. Debbie and Gene were married on August 31, 1972. They lived in Newburgh with Gene’s parents Ray and Eva (nee MacGarvey) Thompson until 1984 when they moved to downtown Napanee. They never moved again and raised three children in that home. Debbie was known by many in Napanee after years of working retail at both the SAAN store and The Dollar Club on Dundas Street. She loved to hear the latest news from shoppers and over the decades came to know many residents of Napanee. Along with her family, Debbie was a friend to all animals, and she dearly loved the many pets she cared for over the years, including Bruin, Rufus, Smokey, Bandit, Ming, Ozzy, Harry, Pumpkin, Max, Maggie, Lexi and Lily.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life to be held at Temple of Prayer & Praise, 261 West St, Napanee on February 8 at 1:30pm.
