Cedric Sidney Hartley

After a life well lived, in his 95th year, Cedric Hartley of Belleville passed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on Monday, June 23, 2025 with his loving family at his bedside. Beloved partner of Sharon Rittwage, adored father of Debbie (the late Bruce), (predeceased by) Christine (Cathy) and Darlene (Joe), loving Grampa of Ben (Alicia), Josh and Jesse, and proud Great-Grampa of Parker, Abbie, Jaxon and Hailey. He will be sadly missed by a great many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Cedric was predeceased by his three younger brothers, Alcide, Leland and Lyle and his parents Sidney and Margaret Hartley of Stanstead, Que.

Cedric was born in Judds Mills, Quebec on January 18, 1931. He loved horses and as a young man worked on the farm. He became a stone polisher by trade, working in a granite shed in Beebe, Que. , creating some beautiful granite pieces. Shortly after his marriage he moved to Ontario and became a transport broker, first for Frontenac Transport, then for GTL. With the CB handle "Red Mack", he drove the highways every night from Toronto to Montreal and back, and was very proud of the more than 3 million accident free miles he accrued, and had received many safe driving awards for. Cedric was hardworking and liked to be busy. One of his most favorite pastimes was dancing, and he and Sharon would go to local dances several times a week., which earned him the nickname "Sir Dancelot". He loved his family and enjoyed any time spent with them. He was always supportive and willing to help with projects or offer advice when asked. Cedric's spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched and he will be forever remembered.

In keeping with Cedric's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside funeral service will be held at Whites Cemetery, 498 Old Highway 2, Trenton, ON on July 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm, following which refreshments will be served at 33 Westview Blvd., Belleville.
