Donald Barrette

Donald Finlay Barrette age 65 with his family by his side, died peacefully on December 11, 2018, at Providence Care Hospital, Kingston Ontario.  Don is survived by his dear wife Yvonne of Newburgh, son Chris (Lori) of Kanata, son Shawn (Nadia) of Orono, daughter Sarah of  Kingston, son Michael of Napanee, daughter Rachel of Amherstview, daughter Rebekah-Rose of Newburgh, daughter Jessica of Newburgh and his seven Grandchildren, Hannah, Sophie-Grace, Liam, Eliana, Dante, Holly and Emmeline.  Lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters Kenny (Mary), Phillip (Francine), Jeanne (Philp), Bruce (Gloria), James (Mary), Jean-Paul, Steven (Gina).  Don was also a Loving and dedicated Foster Father to the very many children that they cared for over the course of 35 years.  He is preceded in death by his Mother Elizabeth Macdermid of Montreal, Father Jean-Paul Barrette of Montreal, and Stepfather Chris Belair of Montreal.  Don was a carpenter by trade, working in construction and the building of many homes in Kingston and surrounding areas.  In his spare time he enjoyed building decks and other wood working projects.  He was a proud Canadian who loved the great outdoors, his beloved Habs, and summers at the family trailer.  Don was well loved, a friend to all and will be dearly missed.  

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 5th at the Odessa Free Methodist Church at 1pm.  All are welcome to attend with reception to follow.  The family would like to thank the Oncology team at the Cancer Centre KGH, Lennox & Addington General Hospital.  Special thanks to Doctor Koester of Newburgh and the Palliative Care team of Providence Care Hospital Kingston.  

In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Pediatric Care Oncology KGH.
