It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Christopher (Kit), age 81, on Tuesday August 6 at the Belleville General Hospital following a short and stoic battle with cancer. Christopher slipped away peacefully surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley and his children, Dave (Liza) Brown of Belleville, Gwen (Fred) Palacious of Picton, Michelle (Dave) Reinhardus of Stirling, Lisa Brown of Belleville, and Tracey (Norm) Lott of Stirling. Chris will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Kale, Dylan, Rachel, Owen, Ferrando, Jamal, Jessica, Lindsay, Joel, Mackenzie, Emily, Joshua, Kristen, Caleb and Michaela. Christopher is the son of the late Burnett and Helen Brown of Escuminac, Quebec. He is predeceased by his younger brother Wayne Brown of St. Lucia and his grand-daughter Larissa Reinhardus of Stirling, Ontario. Chris will be fondly remembered by his entire extended family and many close friends.
Chris worked hard his entire life before retiring at the age of 70 from the construction field. He volunteered in his community as a hockey coach and Kiwanis member. He loved playing his guitar, listening and dancing to country and western music, reading his paper, discussing politics and history, story telling, watching television, following the Habs (Montreal Canadiens), drinking the odd dram of scotch and visiting with his family and friends. During his retirement he spent several winters in Arizona with his wife where he made some wonderful friends, especially during his “jam sessions” with other musicians in the park.
In keeping with Chris’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. The immediate family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Belleville General Hospital are greatly appreciated.
